About the Piano Teacher

Hi there! My name is Andrew.
I am a piano teacher in Peoria, AZ.
Teaching piano is my life’s work (not just a “side-hustle”). There is no greater joy than seeing music come to life for my students. I love meeting my students where they are at and seeing them discover the joy of music.
I started taking piano lessons at the age of 7 and fell in love with the instrument. That passion has not stopped since! Originally from New Jersey, I studied Piano Performance and Music Education at Westminster Choir College of Rider University. I taught K-8 Music in the Peoria School District before becoming a private piano teacher and opening my studio.
My experience as a public school music teacher has taught me the value of sharing the love of music with large groups of students. I love teaching large groups of students so much that I decided to bring it into my piano studio! My students not only receive private lessons, but also participate in group lessons scheduled periodically throughout the year. I believe students gain so much from their group lessons by performing for each other, playing music games, and making lifelong friendships.
I saw a need for high-quality piano instruction that meets fun and creativity here in the West Valley. Piano By Andrew started in 2023 and we’re still going strong!
Piano Pedagogy (the art of teaching) is something I’m truly passionate about. You’ll find me engaging in professional development and masterminds with my fellow teachers. I am a member of the Arizona State Music Teachers Association and Phoenix Music Teachers Association.
I am a member of Phoenix Music Teacher’s Association (PMTA), the Arizona State Music Teachers Association (ASMTA), and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Why does this matter to you? Because of my memberships, my students have opportunities to participate in exclusive events. I also believe that it is important that piano teachers continue their education. I am a member of SEVERAL online communities just for piano teachers! That means that your child will not only learn from me, but also from some advice from the world’s best piano teachers.
Years ago, I discovered the Piano Safari method and fell in love with it because of the way it introduces pieces by pattern (where I play and the student copies me) and teaches technique through “animal exercises.” Because of this, my students learn to play pieces they love through exploration and play while learning to read notes.
Outside the studio, I am involved with my church, Fresh Start Church in Peoria, where I serve in the kids ministry and other areas. I enjoy hiking, reading, and spending time outdoors.

My grandsons are so fortunate to have Mr Andrew for their piano teacher! His approach to learning is on of patience and encouragement. My grandsons not only enjoy the weekly lessons, they love playing their pieces at home, without even being told to! I highly recommend Mr Andrew to be your chidren’s, or your own, piano teacher!
