Teacher Responsibility My responsibility is to provide an atmosphere for learning and a well-balanced music education. Professional standards will be maintained and definite goals will be established for each student. It is my goal to give your child the best possible music education. I belong to professional organizations, attend workshops and educational programs, subscribe to professional publications, and engage in other activities on a continuing basis in order to provide opportunities for professional growth and enhance my own teaching skills.

Tuition and Fees The studio runs much like a private school, where tuition remains the same each month regardless of attendance or the number of lessons scheduled. Tuition includes the following:

  • Weekly private lessons
  • Group lessons
  • Books and materials
  • Audio and/or video recordings
  • Studio recitals
  • Professional development for the teacher.

There is a $25 registration fee per student upon enrolling in the studio. For students enrolled in in-home lessons, there is an additional $40/month travel fee (per family).

Attendance Please be on time for your lesson and when picking up your child. If your lessons is from 4:00-4:30 pm and you come at 4:15, the lesson will still end at 4:30 in order to ensure that none of my lessons run behind.

Calendar Lessons are typically held weekly following the studio calendar. The studio calendar, which runs Aug-May, includes 32 private lessons and 6 group lessons. Regular lessons will not be held during group weeks.

Missed Lessons Your tuition reserves an exclusive time slot on the teacher’s calendar, along with other benefits in the studio. No credits, refunds, or make-ups will be given for missed lessons. However, keep in mind there are up to 4 bonus group lessons scheduled throughout the year. If I must miss a lesson, I will reschedule with you or use one of the bonus group lessons. **Students taking lessons at the studio or online may take advantage of an exchange roster (ask me for details) or a recorded video lesson. **Please note, these options are not available to students taking lessons in their home.

Payments Payments are due by the 1st of each month. The following payment methods are accepted.

  • Automatic bank or credit card payments
  • Checks*

*You will be asked to pay a one-month deposit upon starting lessons in addition to your regular tuition payment. Upon discontinuing lessons, your last month will already be paid for (see Discontinuing Lessons).

**The studio is a registered ESA (Empowerment Scholarship Account) vendor and accepts payments through ClassWallet.

Discontinuing Lessons Every student stops taking lessons at some point. Please make this decision thoughtfully with plenty of discussion between the teacher, parent, and student so that lessons can cease with a positive sense of closure. Because tuition includes much more than your scheduled lesson time, a one-month notice is required by the 1st of the month prior to discontinuing (ex. if notice is given Jan. 15th, your last month will be Feb., etc.). If appropriate, a parent/student teacher conference may be scheduled before the last lesson to establish if this might be a temporary setback that can be resolved.

All these forms of notification shall be considered valid and binding on both parties.

COVID-19 Guidelines

The safety and well-being of my students is my top priority! Piano By Andrew is closely monitoring the progression of COVID-19. The studio will adhere to the following guidelines:

• A face mask will be worn by the teacher and student during lessons.

• Hands must be washed prior to lessons and afterward.

• All surfaces used during the lesson, including the piano, will be wiped down prior to the start of the lesson and immediately following the lesson.

•Please do not come to the studio if your child is sick. Instead, I will teach the lesson online or send a recorded lesson. If I am sick, or in the event of an exposure, I will teach all lessons online or, in extreme cases, the bonus group lessons will cover.
